SoftLanding Systems will put the spotlight on legacy application decommissioning onto the IBM i at International i-Power

Find out everything you wanted to know about legacy application decommissioning (but were afraid to ask!).

June 03, 2019 - PETERBOROUGH, NH – SoftLanding® Systems, the IBM i software division of UNICOM® Global, will be showcasing its Columbus solution for decommissioning legacy applications onto the IBM i platform when it exhibits at the International i-Power conference in the UK on June 11 and 12, 2019.

“We’re coming across many users within the IBM i community who want to free up resources by decommissioning or retiring legacy applications that may be running on a variety of platforms throughout the enterprise,” said Jim Fisher, SoftLanding Operations Manager. “The key is to find an efficient way to keep the legacy data accessible because it’s often required for compliance, customer service or other operational reasons. With Columbus we can show you how to move this important data into a secure content repository on the IBM i – your strategic platform of choice.”

Conference delegates can also learn about the key considerations to help them build a solid business case for decommissioning applications at a session entitled “Everything you wanted to know about legacy application decommissioning (but were afraid to ask!)”. This will be presented by Sam Dix, Client Services Consultant at 14:15 on Day 2 (June 12) in Room 5. Visitors to the SoftLanding stand can also learn about the company’s solutions that cover application lifecycle management, automated operations and performance management for the IBM i. There will be early information about a new web interface soon to be launched for the AUTOMON for iConsole message management solution.

Delegates are invited to participate in a survey about legacy application decommissioning, the results of which will be published shortly after the event.
